Ingredients
3 cups water2 medium tart apples, chopped1-1/2 cups old-fashioned oatsDash salt1/4 cup packed brown sugar1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract1/4 cup chopped almondsOptional: Maple syrup and fat-free milk
Preparation
In a large saucepan over medium heat, bring water to a boil. Add apples, oats and salt; cook and stir for 5 minutes.
Remove from the heat; stir in brown sugar, cinnamon and vanilla. Cover and let stand for 2 minutes. Sprinkle each serving with almonds. If desired, serve with syrup and milk.
