Ingredients

1 cup shortening1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar2 large eggs2 tablespoons molasses2 teaspoons vanilla extract3 cups quick-cooking oats1 cup all-purpose flour1 teaspoon baking soda3/4 teaspoon salt2 cups semisweet chocolate chips3/4 cup chopped pecans

Preparation

In a large bowl, cream shortening and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in molasses and vanilla. Combine the oats, flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture until well combined. Stir in chocolate chips and pecans.

Spread in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 28-32 minutes or until golden brown and edges pull away from sides of pan. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars.
