Ingredients
1 cup butter, softened3/4 cup sugar1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar1 egg1 teaspoon vanilla extract2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour1/2 teaspoon baking soda1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg1/8 teaspoon salt
Preparation
In a bowl, cream butter and sugars. Beat in egg and vanilla; mix well. Combine the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, nutmeg and salt; add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
Shape into 3/4-in. balls; place 2 in. apart on greased baking sheets. Flatten with a glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks.
