Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour3/4 cup packed brown sugar1/2 cup sugar2 teaspoons baking soda1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon1/2 teaspoon salt1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg3 large eggs1/2 cup butter, melted3 ounces cream cheese, cut into 1/4-inch cubes and softened1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract2 cups chopped peeled apples1/2 cup raisins1/2 cup chopped walnutsTOPPING:1/2 cup packed brown sugar1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts1/4 cup all-purpose flour2 tablespoons butter, melted1 teaspoon ground cinnamon1 teaspoon grated lemon zest

Preparation

In a large bowl, combine the first eight ingredients. Combine the eggs, butter, cream cheese and vanilla; stir into dry ingredients just until moistened (batter will be stiff). Fold in the apples, raisins and walnuts. Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups two-thirds full. Combine the topping ingredients; sprinkle over batter.

Bake at 375° for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks.
